Miranda Moorhead
I'm a freelance illustrator based in New York City.
Growing up on a healthy diet of fairy tales and ghost stories in rural Ohio, my work weaves dramatic colors and light with myth and folklore. I investigate themes of eternal human questions, emotions, and beliefs through the lenses of religion, horror, and mythology. My digital process aims to create a tactile world that bridges the world of fantasy and reality by using textures inspired by the real world. I take visual and narrative inspiration from medieval art, Elizabethan theater, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Gothic literature, and the history of the occult, as well as artists of the Golden Age of American Illustration. I seek to work in publishing to create book covers and illustrated novels and to work in the entertainment industry creating posters and concept art for film.
